Gravity

Through gravity the smallest particles are sieved and sorted
from the grosser material that constitutes the objects of the infinite

visual field. I feel it pull me down, drawing
tiny traces from me, thoughts, desires, prayers,

all bearing my DNA, but preparing for a certain nothingness.
I want to draw in so much air that I could be released

and fly, and from that vantage point regard the earth,
discern my shadow on its curvature and still be part of it.
